Project Overview
Boulder Planet Thailand is an indoor climbing gym located within Future Park Rangsit & Zpell shopping mall near Bangkok, bringing climbing into a highly visible retail environment with strong public accessibility. The project transformed an approximately 1,440 sq. m irregularly shaped unit into a climbing-focused destination with close to 860 sq. m of climbing surface, combining bouldering, autobelay climbing and social spaces within a challenging mall footprint. Large storefront glazing and natural daylight became key assets of the design, helping maintain openness, visibility and a strong connection to the surrounding mall circulation.
For the project, Altline Studio explored multiple planning approaches to unlock the potential of the unusual geometry and define the most efficient arrangement for climbing, support spaces and visitor flow. The final layout integrates extensive bouldering terrain, a 30-metre competition wall, autobelay climbing and spectator-friendly circulation while preserving clear sightlines into the gym. A mezzanine positioned above the changing rooms introduces an elevated co-working and lounge area, expanding the gym beyond climbing into a place to work, socialize and spend time.
Alongside the overall planning, Altline Studio designed the detailed climbing wall geometry, shaping a broad mix of wall angles and climbing experiences suitable for both everyday sessions and events.
