Project Overview
Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Boyce Bouldering Park is an outdoor climbing destination developed within the larger Boyce Park recreational area, introducing bouldering as part of a public landscape accessible to climbers of different ages and experience levels. The project brings climbing into an open-air setting through a series of freestanding bouldering structures designed to encourage movement, social interaction and everyday outdoor activity.
Altline Studio developed the detailed climbing wall design in collaboration with Boulder Solutions, shaping a collection of standalone climbing elements with approximately 6,000 sq. ft of climbing surface across varied terrain. The composition combines lower top-out boulders, traverse elements and larger freestanding structures reaching up to 14 feet in height, offering a broad range of climbing styles within a compact outdoor environment.
The climbing walls use clean faceted geometry finished primarily in light grey tones, giving the park a calm and architectural identity that sits naturally within the surrounding landscape.
