Project Overview

Project Konepaja is a bouldering and training gym located in a more than 100-year-old former train factory in Helsinki, Finland. Developed within the historic Konepaja industrial area, the project combines climbing, training and community spaces inside a raw industrial environment with a strong industrial character.

Altline Studio developed the space planning and climbing wall design for the facility, carefully adapting the layout to the existing structure and spatial limitations of the building. The project was organized around a strong training-focused concept, integrating challenging bouldering terrain, numerous training boards and a psychobloc area within a compact urban footprint.

The gym includes dedicated board climbing zones, compact open changing rooms with private cubicles and a mezzanine level equipped with fitness and training areas overlooking the main climbing space. The preserved industrial atmosphere of the original building creates a distinct identity that connects contemporary climbing culture with the historic character of the space.
